The Yemeni artist Balqis Fathi flirted with the Moroccan audience during her first performance on the Renaissance platform, as part of the 19th edition of the "Mawazine" Festival, this past Sunday. In a press conference held in Rabat, Balqis stated, "My participation in the Mawazine Festival is an important step in my artistic career," pointing out that "the festival represents a key station for both Arab and international artists." She added, "My presence today at Mawazine is a significant addition to my career, and after the concert, I will feel reborn as an Arab star."
Balqis spoke about the Moroccan dialect, noting that it "contains many difficult words, similar to the Yemeni dialect." She explained that the trend of many Arab artists singing in the Moroccan dialect is not just a fad but an effort to appeal to the Moroccan audience, which has a strong presence on platforms and in numbers. She continued, "Those who seek success must charm the Moroccan audience." Regarding her love for Moroccan culture, she highlighted that she does not know the reason for this great mutual affection between her and the Moroccan people, affirming her influence by the Moroccan dialect through her experiences.
Balqis described the Moroccan audience as intelligent and cultured, who deeply appreciate all musical genres, making singing in front of them a significant challenge for any artist. Concerning her absence from the Riyadh Season, Balqis stated that she participated in previous seasons but does not know the reason for her absence this time, despite having a large fan base in Saudi Arabia. Balqis, daughter of the Yemeni musician Ahmed Fathi, also expressed her openness to exploring acting, but she is waiting for a role that will represent a qualitative leap in her artistic career and will accept it when the right opportunity arises.
