Concern Over Missing Players During Tour in Morocco

Moroccans have recently been preoccupied with the incident involving the disappearance of two players from the Union Tangier football club, after their boat was swept away by winds and waves during a sightseeing trip off the coast of the city of Tetouan in northern Morocco. Their fate remains unknown as of now.

In detail, five players from the Union Tangier team decided to go for a sea outing on Saturday aboard a small tourist boat. They all jumped into the water to swim, but the wind and waves pushed their boat far away, making it impossible for them to reach it. Civil defense teams intervened and managed to rescue three players, while two players are still missing. The missing players are Salman Al-Harak and Abdul Latif Akhrif.

Search operations are still ongoing along the beaches of Tetouan, Fnideq, Martil, and M'diq to locate them, while families, relatives, and sports fans, especially supporters of the Tangier club, are anxiously waiting for news. The absence of any information about the fate of the missing players has raised concerns and sympathy among Moroccans, especially after the chances of finding them alive have diminished more than 24 hours after the incident, with hopes for a miracle still lingering.

Contrary to what has been circulated on social media, the president of Union Tangier, Mohamed Al-Sharqawi, denied in statements to local media any rumors about the discovery of one of the players' bodies, confirming that search efforts are still ongoing.
