The life of English international Danny Drinkwater, the Premier League champion with Leicester City in 2016, has experienced many twists and turns, but no one expected that a player who transferred for tens of millions a few years ago would become a construction worker. Drinkwater was one of the heroes of Leicester City's legendary story after winning the Premier League title in the 2015-2016 season, and following this historic achievement, his contract was sold to Chelsea for 40 million euros.
Drinkwater retired from football last October at just 33 years old, admitting that he struggled with mental health issues during his time in London. He stated: "My grandfather and grandmother passed away, my dad got leukemia, and I was struggling to gain custody of my child. Finally, my dog died... My life fell apart, and all these factors affected my career with Chelsea."
He continued, "I was looking for a new opportunity to play football, but I couldn’t find one, so I turned to construction work. I want to live a normal life." Drinkwater concluded, "I wasted the best years of my life, and now I am trying to find myself through the work I do."
Danny has played for several clubs including Cardiff City, Watford, and Aston Villa, in addition to Leicester and Chelsea.
