In related news, Egyptian media reported that the Cairo Criminal Court presented around 300 pornographic videos and torture clips of the person known as the "Gathering Serial Killer" during a closed session on Tuesday, while the defense lawyers announced their withdrawal from the case.
Media reports indicated that during the second session of trial for the accused "Kareem M. S."—publicly known as the "Gathering Serial Killer"—the court revealed nearly 300 video clips found on his phone and personal laptop, which the accused filmed of himself engaging in sexual acts with his victims before killing them under the influence of drugs.
The court decided to hold the session in private due to the nature of the evidence presented, which included obscene and horrific videos documenting the brutal crimes committed against the victims. Only the defense counsel, civil plaintiffs, technical staff responsible for setting up display screens, and police officers securing the courtroom attended the session, with the victims' families absent, reportedly due to their unwillingness to watch the videos and discuss the crimes.
The suspect admitted during the Prosecution's investigations to filming his illicit sexual encounters with women, as well as recording himself torturing them before killing them while they were under the influence of drugs. After the evidence was presented in court, the five defense lawyers expressed their apologies to the judge for taking on the case.
Furthermore, the Cairo Criminal Court has postponed the trial session for the "Gathering Serial Killer," charged with killing three women, until July 18.
