Reactions condemning the gunfire aimed at former U.S. President Donald Trump during an election rally on Saturday continue to emerge, with numerous influential figures expressing their support. Billionaire Bill Ackman, director of the American hedge fund, stated on the social media platform X that he supports Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential race. Ackman responded to a user on X, saying, "I just endorsed him. But you know me. I write lengthy posts on important topics. I want people to understand my thinking so that it has greater meaning and helps others find the right place."
Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and X, also officially endorsed Trump in the electoral race. Commenting on the shooting incident during Trump's rally, Musk wrote, "I fully support President Trump and wish him a speedy recovery." Earlier, gunfire erupted at a large rally for Trump in Pennsylvania, where the Republican presidential candidate appeared grim, raising his right hand to his blood-stained right ear, as shown in video footage.
In response to this incident, Republican Senator Mitch McConnell posted on X, "Tonight, all Americans are grateful that President Trump appears to be okay after the attack," adding, "There is no place for violence in our politics." Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer expressed that he was "horrified" by the shooting during Trump's rally, writing, "I was horrified by what happened at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania and I feel relieved that former President Trump is safe. Political violence has no place in our country."
Former Democratic President Barack Obama stated, "There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy." Obama wrote on X, "We should all feel relieved that former President Trump was not seriously injured and take this moment to renew our commitment to civility and respect in politics."
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed he was "disturbed by the horrific scenes at President Trump's campaign rally." In a post on X on Sunday, Starmer said, "There is no place for political violence in our communities in any form, and our hearts are with all the victims of this attack."
Italian Prime Minister expressed solidarity with Trump and called for dialogue against hatred and violence. Netanyahu wrote on X, "We pray for his safety and speedy recovery." French President Emmanuel Macron considered the assassination attempt on Trump a tragedy for democracy. Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida emphasized on Sunday that "we must stand firm against any form of violence that challenges democracy."
Canadian Minister Justin Trudeau said that "political violence is never acceptable." In a post on X, Trudeau stated, "I was saddened by the shooting of former President Trump. The President of the European Commission expressed her "deep shock" over the shooting during Trump’s campaign rally. The Chinese president, the Polish president, and the German chancellor condemned the assassination attempt on Trump. The Saudi Foreign Ministry also condemned the assassination attempt on Donald Trump on Sunday, stating, "The Kingdom expresses its condemnation and denunciation of the attempt on the life of former U.S. President Donald Trump." They also expressed "full solidarity with the United States and former President Trump and his family, asserting their rejection of all forms of violence."
