Egyptians woke up to a tragic and horrific incident that occurred in one of the villages in the Talaqha district of the Dakahlia governorate. The decaying body of an elderly woman was discovered after a foul smell emanated from a house in the Al-Rawda village, leading to the revelation of the matter.
Neighbors found the body of the 68-year-old woman, identified as Leila Atiya, with her hands bound and in an advanced state of decomposition, lying in the basement of her home. The security authorities in Dakahlia received a report regarding the discovery of the body in a swollen condition inside her room. The security forces moved to the scene, and the body was transported to the morgue of the International Hospital in Mansoura.
The house was locked from the outside. A report of the incident was filed, and the Public Prosecution was notified to take the necessary actions and initiate investigations. They ordered the involvement of a forensic doctor and intensified efforts to determine the reasons for the incident and apprehend the perpetrators.
Additionally, a security source confirmed that a report of the woman's disappearance had been filed two days prior, with her family finding her lying in a small basement under the stairs of her home, locked from the outside. Authorities announced that they are intensifying efforts to determine the cause of death and apprehend the perpetrator of the crime.
