The Moroccan royal court announced today, Tuesday, that French President Emmanuel Macron informed King Mohammed VI that the autonomy plan proposed by Rabat is "the only basis for reaching a political solution regarding the Sahara issue." The court stated that Macron sent a message to Mohammed VI on the twenty-fifth anniversary of his ascension to the throne, confirming that "for France, autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty is the framework through which this issue should be resolved. Our support for the autonomy plan presented by Morocco in 2007 is clear and steadfast," considering that this plan "now constitutes the only basis for reaching a political, fair, sustainable, and negotiated solution, in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions."
