"The National Liberal Movement": Israeli Provocations Necessitate Solidarity Among Lebanese

The "National Liberal Movement" condemned in a statement following the regular meeting of its political council, chaired by MP Gibran Bassil, "the ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon through bombing, assassination, and intimidation by breaking the sound barrier." It considered that "the ruling team in Israel is carrying out all provocations to expand the war against Lebanon, which necessitates reaffirming solidarity among the Lebanese in all fields in facing the aggression."

The statement viewed "the Israeli stance rejecting the principle of a Palestinian state and thwarting all ceasefire negotiations as evidence that Israel does not want any form of peace but rather seeks to escalate the war and ignite the situation on a larger scale in the region, starting with the destruction of Gaza and the killing and displacement of its people, which deserves a unified Arab stance to confront the threat of a major war."

The statement also noted that "the political council discussed the organizational situation within the movement in light of the application of regulations, which resulted in the expulsion of two of its deputies following decisions made based on the recommendation of the Council of Elders. The political council unanimously affirmed its support for the decision and the necessity of strict adherence to regulations to ensure party discipline and not to tolerate any violations affecting commitment or to allow anyone to manipulate the movement internally or undermine its dignity and internal order."
