Since we have opened our eyes, the Palestinian cause has practically meant the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Initially, after the 1948 war, the desired state was rejected based on the partition resolution. The West Bank and Gaza Strip were under Arab control, while the State of Israel was established with greater territory than that specified in the resolution. The June 1967 war established Israel as a state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, in short, over all Palestinian land. The October 1973 war, the first Palestinian intifada in 1987, and the outcomes of the Kuwait Liberation War opened doors for the possibility of establishing a Palestinian national authority for the first time in history on Palestinian soil. This was the foundation of the Oslo Accords, which recognized that the West Bank and Gaza represent the geographical unity of the anticipated Palestinian state. Unfortunately, turning this into a state faced obstacles from Hamas and similar organizations that believed it was insufficient and began carrying out suicide operations, coupled with the Israeli right-wing that assassinated Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and pushed for settlement activities. This contributed to Benjamin Netanyahu coming to the Israeli government for the first time, along with a resurgence of the call for Israel to exist "from the river to the sea," which aligned with the Palestinian right-wing's aspirations.
Details of what occurred between the 20th and 21st centuries can be traced through newspapers and books, but in summary, it is the continuous swallowing of Palestinian lands by Israel, by meters and kilometers, with the latest being the entirety of the Gaza Strip; and now Israel is preparing to completely annex the West Bank through violence and settlements. The two-state solution is currently proposed globally, but it is entirely obstructed not only by the Israeli right-wing but also by the Israeli Knesset, which has issued two resolutions rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state in any form or shape, placing the entire Palestinian people from the river to the sea under Israeli control. Such an outcome will not be accepted by Palestinians, Arabs, or the world; however, for the direction of the winds to change, bold decisions will be required.
