A source close to Iraqi factions revealed today, Saturday, that they are conducting an investigation to identify what he termed "unknown data." He also indicated that a response to the U.S. attack is coming inevitably.
In a statement to "Baghdad Today," the source stated, "The Iraqi factions are well-known for their leadership, methodology, and goals. They are part of this society and do not hide anything. When they target U.S. objectives, they announce it officially through precise statements and do not fear to speak the truth, regardless of the sacrifices."
He added that "in recent months, statements have emerged bearing various names claiming to belong to armed factions while promoting their involvement in operations here and there." He pointed out that "this issue is under investigation to determine the identity of those parties and whether they are truly part of the resistance pathways or not."
The United States conducted an airstrike on Tuesday targeting positions belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in the Jurf al-Sakhar area north of the province. An American official stated that the U.S. carried out the strike in Iraq "in self-defense," noting that the strike was due to a threat to the U.S.-led coalition forces.
In contrast, the PMF issued a statement indicating that one of its units in the Jurf al-Nasr area in Babil province, south of Baghdad, "was subjected to an explosion of an unknown nature," resulting in casualties. The PMF did not assign blame, instead referring to the explosion as originating from an unidentified source.
