Former Egyptian weightlifting national team player Tarek Yahya, who won a bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics, will receive his medal after 12 years in a special ceremony today, alongside the Paris 2024 Olympics. The story of the bronze medal began when Tarek Yahya secured bronze in the 85 kg category by lifting 375 kg, finishing in fourth place. However, years later, the International Weightlifting Federation announced in 2016 that Tarek Yahya would be awarded the bronze medal following a positive doping test from Russian athlete Apti Oukhadov, who had originally finished second in London. The federation revealed that after reanalyzing samples from the Olympic Games, Oukhadov's positive test for the 85 kg weight class elevated Tarek Yahya to third place, thus earning him the bronze medal. Tarek Yahya has requested the International Weightlifting Federation to present his medal, which was last awarded 12 years ago, at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and the federation agreed to his request. He will receive the medal at the beginning of the weightlifting competitions in the current games. It is worth noting that Tarek Yahya was awarded the bronze medal following the disqualification of Apti Oukhadov after the competition ended four years later.
