The city of Berlin, Germany, is giving its visitors the opportunity to experience the "sensation of flying" by riding the highest swing in Europe. The swing is 120 meters high and is located on the roof of a hotel in central Berlin. It resembles traditional swings, but offers breathtaking views of the entire German capital.
Since its inauguration, around one hundred visitors climb to the top of the hotel, which was built in 1970 in East Berlin, each day to test the powerful emotions this activity delivers. For about twenty euros, thrill-seekers can swing into the void for five minutes, secured by a harness.
Pascal Vient, who experienced the swing, explains, "After the initial swings, it becomes normal, and you feel free." Meanwhile, Victoria Voigt states, "It feels somewhat like flying, it’s a good introduction for those wanting to feel the thrill."
Andy Hofer, the director of the company managing many tourist attractions in Germany, clarifies, "We wanted to create something simple and accessible." The creators of this location have set an ambitious goal to steal the spotlight from Berlin's iconic TV tower, the "Fernsehturm," which stands at 368 meters.
Hofer adds, "They have a glass facade, but we have a terrace and fresh air." With this new tourist attraction, Berlin has broken the record previously held in Amsterdam, where the tallest swing in continental Europe used to be at a height of 100 meters.
