The Prime Minister Najib Mikati continued today to hold a series of meetings in the Grand Serail as part of following up on the emergency plan prepared by the government. During the meetings, the Prime Minister emphasized that "the primary concern that unites the Lebanese at this stage is confronting the new Israeli threats and the ongoing aggression against Lebanon for months." He stressed the necessity for the international community and international organizations to fulfill their duties towards Lebanon and support it in these difficult circumstances, especially since it is burdened with significant pressures due to Syrian displacement.
Mikati stated that "the aggression and Israeli threats should serve as an additional and essential impetus for solidarity among the Lebanese and should not open side disputes that are not timely right now," praising "the community initiatives to receive displaced Lebanese." He confirmed that "the Cabinet will discuss in detail tomorrow the measures and procedures related to the national emergency plan and the issue of Syrian displaced persons."
**World Food Program**
The Prime Minister met with the Regional Director of the World Food Program, Matthew Hollingworth, and was briefed on the program's work and activities, particularly regarding the services and assistance provided to the displaced from the south. The meeting also included the Prime Minister’s advisor, Ziad Mikati.
**United Nations Coordinator**
Mikati also met, in the presence of the National Emergency Committee Coordinator, Minister Nasser Yassin, with the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, Imran Riza. Minister Yassin stated that "the meeting was to follow up on the subject of assistance from international organizations to Lebanon, in conjunction with government efforts, with plans for subsequent meetings with representatives of donor countries."
**General Security**
Additionally, Mikati met with the Acting Director General of General Security, Major General Elias Baisari, to discuss the security situation in the country.
**Abou Faour**
Prime Minister Mikati received Democratic Gathering member MP Wael Abou Faour, who stated after the meeting: "I was honored to meet with the Prime Minister, and the main issue we discussed was the major concern of the Lebanese people due to the Israeli aggression. I would like to commend everything President Mikati is doing in full partnership with President Nabih Berri during their diplomatic and international communication efforts to avert disasters and avoid the worst outcomes. Lebanon is carrying out very large diplomatic and political communication campaigns aimed at avoiding the outbreak of war; some of these communications are taking place on an international level, and there are also expectations of visitors and initiatives that may come from abroad, which we hope will lead to a de-escalation of tensions. Ultimately, the final solution is a ceasefire in Gaza, and if a ceasefire occurs there, it will help reduce tensions in the region generally and curb the Israeli momentum towards war."
