The Actors' and Musicians' Syndicates have suspended the work permits for artist Haifa Wehbe after the head of the Actors' Syndicate, Ashraf Zaki, formally addressed the head of the Musicians' Syndicate, Mustafa Kamel, as both are representatives of the Federation of Artistic Unions. Ashraf Zaki requested Mustafa Kamel to activate the Federation's role, emphasizing the necessary legal, ethical, and administrative cooperation.
According to an official statement issued by the Musicians' Syndicate in coordination with the Actors' Syndicate, the reason for Haifa Wehbe's permit suspension is that she "violated the terms of an artistic contract with a film production company despite receiving an advance payment, and she did not comply with the decision made by the investigation committee of the Actors' Syndicate, which led to her suspension from work and banning her from future permits."
The statement added: "This request coincided with receiving an official complaint to the Musicians' Syndicate from an event organizer regarding Haifa Wehbe breaching an agreement to hold a concert in the North Coast on 7/19 despite receiving the agreed amount, causing significant financial damages to the event organizer. After reviewing the complaint, it was found to be valid."
It continued: "The management and decisions of the investigation and legal affairs committees of both the Musicians' and Actors' Syndicates align, as they have decided not to grant any work permits to artist Haifa Wehbe for holding artistic events or practicing acting until the disputes reported to the two syndicates are resolved."
Regarding the scheduling of the investigation with the artist, Mustafa Kamel clarified that the legal affairs department is responsible for setting the date for the artist and the complainant to appear and will inform him of this date, at the latest, within the next week.
