Israeli Preemptive Strike: Destruction of Hezbollah Missile Warehouses in Baalbek

The intensity of clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli side peaked on Monday evening, especially following the death of a sergeant and injuries among other Israeli soldiers earlier that morning. Reports indicated that there were several injuries from an Israeli drone strike targeting a vehicle at the intersection near the town of Deir Kounin-Ras Al-Ain in Tyre, marking the first such incident since the start of the confrontations. The Public Health Emergency Operations Center associated with the Ministry of Health stated in a report that this airstrike led to an initial death toll.

In the evening, the scope of the confrontations expanded into deeper Lebanese territory, as Israeli warplanes targeted the outskirts of the towns of Nabi Sheet, Sarin, and Tamnine al-Tahta, specifically between Sarin and Halaniyah, as well as the outskirts of Tamnine in the Bekaa (Baalbek-Hermel Governorate), for the first time in a long while, with no injuries reported at that moment, although there were suspicions that buildings belonging to the party were targeted. Lebanese security sources reported that "five missiles launched from Israeli aircraft targeted positions in Baalbek, eastern Lebanon." There were reports of explosions in the Bekaa and Baalbek areas resulting from the Israeli airstrikes.

An Israeli Defense Ministry spokesperson stated, "We targeted the largest weapons storage facilities belonging to the Hezbollah organization a short while ago in the Bekaa." Meanwhile, artillery shelling reached the outskirts of the towns of Aita Al-Shaab and Ramyah, and the outskirts of the towns of Naqoura and Bayt Leif in southern Lebanon. The Israeli army announced, in a statement issued by its spokesperson for Arab media, that "the General Staff Forum held a comprehensive operational day today in preparation for the northern front, chaired by Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, with the participation of the Deputy Chief of Staff, the head of Military Intelligence, the head of Operations, the Northern Command, the Air Force commander, and other leaders."
