"Honeymoon" might be the most fitting phrase to describe the recent relationship between American billionaire Elon Musk and former U.S. President Donald Trump. Since their last interview, which was aired last week on the platform "X," Trump has been praising Musk extensively. He even went so far as to entice him with a consulting position on his team if he wins the upcoming presidential election in November.
Trump expressed his admiration for the owner of the famous tweeting platform and stated in response to a journalist's question that he would offer the CEO of Tesla a cabinet position or a consultancy role if the latter is interested and willing to engage in such activities, according to Reuters. He added that Musk is "very smart... a great guy."
Just a few hours later, Musk responded. In a tweet on his "X" account on Tuesday, he hinted at his acceptance of this enticing offer. He wrote, "I am willing to serve," alongside an AI-generated image of himself standing on a podium labeled "Ministry of Competence,” indicating his acceptance of an official position to serve his country.
Musk had officially announced last month, following an assassination attempt on Trump, that he supports him as a candidate for the upcoming presidential election after previously voting for the Democratic Party. He also revealed during the two-hour interview on X last week that he is willing to work on a government committee to study the national debt and how Congress can reassess spending and other issues.
Musk proposed to Trump that there should be a government efficiency committee to address these important issues to ensure taxpayers' money is spent wisely. He stated to his interviewer, "I would be happy to assist in such a committee."
It is noteworthy that Musk has been promoting "conservative right-wing" ideas on the platform he acquired about two years ago, giving a significant boost to the political agenda of the Republican Party. He has repeatedly criticized the influx of illegal immigrants into the United States, as well as the Democratic Party's policies in this area.
Furthermore, he has frequently shared videos and news items that have been deemed "dubious" in credibility by many analysts and politicians, prompting some observers to question the "weapon" he possesses, referring to the platform "X," and its potential impact on public opinion and American voters. Given that Musk has millions of followers on what was previously known as Twitter, and that this tweeting platform attracts millions of users in America and around the world, its ownership by an individual considered dangerous raises concerns.
