Assistant Minister of Justice for Human Rights and International Affairs, Askar Jalayian, announced the transfer of 43 Iranian convicts from Iraqi prisons. According to the Iranian news agency "IRNA," Jalayian stated that as part of the prisoner transfer agreement between Iran and Iraq, 20 Iranian convicts from the prisons of Iraqi Kurdistan—comprised of 16 men and 4 women—were transferred to different parts of Iran to complete their sentences.
He further mentioned that 23 Iranian convicts from the prisons in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, were moved to Iran after the completion of all necessary procedures to serve their remaining sentences.
He continued by stating that in the past month, 180 Iranian convicts from prisons in other countries were also transferred to Iran as part of an initiative to facilitate the serving of sentences in their home country.
