French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday called for the prompt and full implementation of the peace agreement between the United States and Iran, emphasizing that it should allow for the immediate and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X earlier today, Macron stated that France is prepared to support the reopening through the international naval mission it co-manages with the United Kingdom.
He wrote, "The resumption of maritime navigation, without restrictions or fees, is an indispensable condition for regional stability and the global economy."
The French President added that the agreement paves the way for broader negotiations aimed at enhancing peace and security throughout the Middle East.
Macron highlighted that such talks should address concerns about Iran's nuclear and missile programs, along with what he described as Tehran's policy of regional destabilization.
Macron also noted that any lasting peaceful settlement must include the restoration of Lebanese state sovereignty, adding that a strong and lasting ceasefire is essential to achieve this objective.
