CNN has reported that Washington turned down a request from Tel Aviv to access the text of the Iranian nuclear agreement. According to an Israeli source, one reason for the refusal is the Trump administration's concern that Netanyahu might leak the agreement before its official release, leaving a primary ally of the United States puzzled about the details of a deal facing widespread criticism.
On Monday evening, during a press conference, Netanyahu barely mentioned the agreement in his eight-minute opening speech. He acknowledged differences when subsequently questioned, stating that he and President Trump "do not always agree," adding, "We still do not know what the agreement will be."
Haaretz, an Israeli newspaper, has called the Iran issue Netanyahu's second major political failure after the October 7, 2023 attack. Despite frequent promises of "historic victories" on multiple fronts, Netanyahu now finds himself contending with increasingly strained relations with the Trump administration.
