Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Support for Syria’s Sovereignty at UN Security Council

Saudi Arabia, on behalf of the Arab group, reaffirmed its support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, as per the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

This statement was delivered by Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, during the UN Security Council meeting focused on the humanitarian and political situation in Syria.

The Arab group called for Syria’s removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, emphasizing the importance of international community support for the country’s transitional phase, which aims to enhance stability and improve humanitarian conditions.

The statement also expressed support for the Syrian government's efforts in combating the terrorist organization ISIS and all forms of terrorism, stressing the importance of international cooperation to provide necessary support during this period.

The group urged the international community to enhance and expand support for countries hosting Syrian refugees, preventing them from bearing the humanitarian and economic burdens alone.

The Arab group strongly condemned the repeated Israeli incursions and attacks on Syrian territory, stating that these actions represent a blatant violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The group reiterated the necessity for Israel to fully comply with the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and to immediately and unconditionally withdraw from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
