President Joseph Aoun met with Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal to discuss the outcomes of his recent visits to Turkey and the United Kingdom, focusing on military cooperation between the nations.
President Aoun and General Haykal reviewed the country's security situation and the forthcoming missions of the military, especially in light of the Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations and the resulting 'framework agreement' aimed at ending hostilities against Lebanon.
In this context, President Aoun commended the army's leadership, officers, and personnel for their efforts in establishing state authority, maintaining national security and stability, controlling borders, and safeguarding civil peace. He emphasized that the military's commitment to the political authority's decisions and the confidence of Lebanese citizens and officials would not be swayed by occasional smear campaigns and skepticism targeting the military institution and its leadership.
