Security: Peace and Safety Through Legitimate Institutions

The latest issue of the magazine "Security," published by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces, is titled "Peace of Safety." The editorial, written by the magazine's Editor-in-Chief, Brigadier General Charbel Faram, discusses the role of legitimate institutions in national security:

Our nation enters a new phase, accustomed to recurring crises and missed opportunities.

Amidst mounting challenges and converging internal with regional and international transformations, the pressing question is: how do we protect our nation, ensure its stability, and secure its future? The answer lies in building a strong state through its legitimate institutions, which are the sole authority for securing safety, enforcing law, and managing public affairs.

A nation's strength is not just measured by its resources, but by its institutions' ability to function with confidence, effectiveness, and independence. Legitimate institutions are not mere administrative or security structures; they embody the state's sovereignty and unified national decision-making. Strong institutions ensure steadfast security, stable peace, and a secure future.

Experience has shown that security and safety are only achievable under a capable state with respected and legitimate institutions, as multiple authorities and scattered decisions invite unrest and weaken a nation's ability to confront dangers.

A strong state with robust institutions is the guarantee for protecting rights and freedoms, maintaining civil peace, and managing differences within the framework of law and constitution.

Supporting legitimate institutions is not just a fleeting political choice but a national and ethical necessity. It is an investment in stability, protection of national unity, and a confirmation that the nation's security is built on legality and the rule of law.

National will remains the true path to salvation, making the nation more adept at overcoming trials and crafting a future worthy of its people.

Past mistakes have brought suffering to all components of the nation and serve as evidence of the consequences when decisions are monopolized and tied to harmful dependencies and failing bets.

The correct bet is always on the state and its legitimate institutions, as they alone can turn security from a daily concern into a permanent state of assurance, stability, development, and prosperity. Where legitimate institutions are strong, the nation is stronger.
