President Michel Aoun received a phone call from U.S. President Donald Trump, who congratulated him on the signing of a framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel under the auspices of the United States. Trump emphasized his country's support for Lebanon and its people, and the commitment to providing all necessary assistance to implement the agreement, aiming to restore security and stability in Lebanon. President Trump stated that the U.S. wishes for Lebanon's prosperity and won't spare any effort to support its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, reaffirming the authority of the state across all Lebanese lands and halting any threats to Lebanon's stability. Trump affirmed the U.S.'s participation in supporting the Lebanese economy and its legitimate security forces, helping Lebanon reclaim its leadership role in the region and the world.
President Aoun expressed gratitude to President Trump for his supportive stance toward Lebanon, its legitimate authority, and its constitutional and security institutions, particularly the army. He noted that Lebanon will fulfill its responsibilities in implementing the framework agreement and hoped that the U.S. would help prevent any breaches of this agreement and ensure the fulfillment of all commitments made, especially by pressuring Israel to withdraw from occupied territories in the south, facilitating the deployment of the Lebanese army up to international borders.
At the end of the call, President Trump indicated a forthcoming meeting with President Aoun in Washington.
