Delegation from Ain Ebel Meets with Berri: State Support Crucial for Continued Resilience

Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, held a meeting at the second presidency in Ain El-Tineh with former minister Rashid Derbas, where they discussed recent political developments. During the visit, Derbas presented several of his works to Berri, including his latest poetry collection "Exercises in the Sea of Anxiety".

Additionally, President Berri addressed the situation in border villages, particularly Ain Ebel and its neighboring areas. He met with Ain Ebel's Mayor, Ayoub Khreish, and members of the municipal council in the presence of the parish priest Father Hanna Semaan and the town’s disaster committee. The delegation briefed President Berri on the conditions in the village and nearby border communities, especially concerning health, economic, and living conditions amid current challenges.
Following the meeting, Deputy Mayor of Ain Ebel, Ayman Barakat, stated: "We had the honor to visit Speaker Nabih Berri to voice the concerns of Ain Ebel and the border villages. We are at a critical juncture—neither in war nor peace—but our people remain steadfast on their land. This resilience requires state support because the public can no longer bear it alone, and we came to voice our demands, particularly regarding Ain Ebel Hospital."
He added: "We requested Speaker Berri to exert all possible efforts to operationalize the hospital. The Ain Ebel Hospital is a military and Caritas facility, mostly equipped, and only awaits the decision to begin operations. We visited Speaker Berri to seek his assistance in activating the hospital and to ensure continued state support for our resilient communities. Without state backing, maintaining this resilience is unsustainable."
