Fadl Shaker's First Statement After Release: What Did He Say?

In his first statement following his release, artist Fadl Shaker said: "Thank God, today I have been given new lines of freedom. I am grateful to God first and to everyone who stood by me and supported me in my case."

He added on Instagram: "I hope you can understand my health and family situation and allow me a short period to recover and check on my family. I promise to return to you soon, as you have been and always will be the support and love I cherish."

The court decided to release Shaker against bail amounts of 100 million LBP for each of three cases and 200 million LBP for the "Abra Events" case. Government Commissioner to the Military Court, Judge Claude Ghanem, agreed to release him in three cases, while he is still reviewing the "Abra Events" case to decide whether to appeal the decision.

The decision by the Permanent Military Court, headed by Brigadier General Wasim Fayad, to release Shaker on the four security-related charges opens many questions about the legal future of the case, whether judicial proceedings will continue, and the possible scenarios in the coming phase.

The decision for release comes after Shaker's health condition worsened in recent days due to the psychological effects of his imprisonment impacting his wellbeing, according to circulated information.
