Trump Announces Reimposed Naval Blockade on Iran

On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the reimplementation of a naval blockade on Iran’s ports, along with the launch of an American operation he described as “protecting the Strait of Hormuz.”

Trump wrote on 'Truth Social' that “the United States will once again impose the naval blockade on Iran.”

He also confirmed that the U.S. “will apply a 20 percent tariff on all goods shipped through the Strait of Hormuz.”

Trump added that the operation “will commence immediately,” without delving into further details.

The U.S. President’s statements follow Tehran’s claims that it has closed the strait, amid escalating military tensions between Washington and Tehran in recent days.
