The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early Wednesday the commencement of military strikes against targets within Iran, beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Time for the eleventh consecutive night.
According to a statement on the platform 'X', the strikes aim at Iranian military sites to continue undermining Tehran's ability to threaten commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a subsequent statement, CENTCOM declared the successful completion of the eleventh night of strikes against Iran at 8:15 p.m. Eastern Time.
It detailed that operations targeted Iranian military operations centers, naval capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and military logistical infrastructure as part of its efforts to maintain the security of commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The command emphasized that Iran has launched over a dozen attacks on regional shipping in the past three months, with ongoing operations to protect navigation and deter threats.
Simultaneously, Iranian media reported explosions in several regions as the attacks intensified.
Fars News Agency reported shelling in the city of Mahshahr, southern Ahvaz, and Iranian media suggested American raids targeted Mahshahr port, with Iranian TV also reporting strikes on the cities of Behbahan and Omidiyeh, east of Ahvaz.
In Bushehr, the sound of explosions was heard, with preliminary assessments indicating U.S. strikes targeted two sites in the city, though there was no official confirmation on the nature or scale of the targets.
Strikes extended to the southeast, with Iranian media discussing explosions over Chabahar and Konarak ports. Other reports stated that the Parchin nuclear site southeast of Tehran faced targeting, without official confirmation from Iranian authorities about the damage or the nature of the targeted facility.
In the capital, Iranian media reported the reactivation of air defense systems in Tehran as attacks continued and expanded across several provinces.
This escalation follows President Donald Trump's announcement of intensified military operations against Iran, with no interest in talks unless Tehran is ready for serious negotiations.
Trump also hinted at potential targeting near Mount Axe, a fortified Iranian nuclear site, considered by Tehran as a serious escalation, warning that any attack on its nuclear facilities or ‘sensitive sites’ would expand the war scope and pose threats to U.S. interests and allies in the region.
These developments come amid ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, through which around one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas trade is shipped. CENTCOM emphasized continuing military operations to safeguard international navigation following a series of attacks on commercial vessels in the strait.
