The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense, through the General Staff of the Army - Directorate of Personnel and Manpower, has announced the opening of volunteer enrollment for military service in the Non-Commissioned Officers and Soldiers Volunteer Course. This opportunity is available for Kuwaiti citizens holding various educational qualifications. Registration is set to begin on July 28, 2026, and will remain open until August 18, 2026.
The ministry clarified that the volunteering opportunity is open to holders of university degrees, post-secondary diplomas, and high school or equivalent certificates. It also includes those with qualifications from grades eleven, ten, nine, and eight, in compliance with specific conditions and regulations for each category.
According to the announcement, applicants must be Kuwaiti nationals, aged between 18 and 26 years from the date of the announcement, medically fit for military service, and have a minimum height of 157 centimeters. Candidates must also pass a personal interview and have good conduct and behavior.
Further, applicants should not have been previously convicted of a felony or any crime involving immorality or dishonesty unless their status has been restored. They must also not have been previously dismissed from service in any governmental entity by a final disciplinary decision. If currently employed, candidates must submit their resignation from their workplace upon final acceptance.
Military Ranks Based on Qualifications
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense specified the ranks awarded to accepted candidates based on their educational qualifications. Doctoral degree holders will receive a rank of Warrant Officer plus two bonuses, master's degree holders will receive the rank of Warrant Officer, and university degree holders will receive the rank of First Sergeant.
Holders of post-secondary diplomas will be awarded the rank of Sergeant plus two bonuses, and high school graduates will receive the rank of Sergeant. Those with qualifications from grades eleven, ten, and nine will be given the rank of Lance Corporal, while individuals with qualifications from grade eight and lower will receive the rank of Soldier.
The ministry explained that the duration of the Non-Commissioned Officers course is four months, while the duration of the Soldiers course is three months.
Applicants are required to submit specified documents electronically, which include the original Kuwaiti citizenship document, civil ID, birth certificate, and the latest certified educational qualification. Additionally, documents related to national military service status, social security, and the workforce situation are needed for relevant categories.
Requirements also include copies of the parents' citizenship, a death certificate if one parent is deceased, and five recent personal photos sized 4x6. Married applicants must attach a marriage contract and a copy of the spouse's citizenship.
The announcement emphasizes that all uploaded documents must be valid and clear, with originals presented during the personal interview. The Ministry of Defense has specified online registration through the designated volunteer recruitment website during the period from July 28 to August 18, 2026.
