Iranian parliamentary spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Hassan Qashqavi, has accused the Israeli Mossad and the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of plotting efforts to destabilize Iran. He specifically cited activities in border regions, particularly in Kurdistan, as part of these plans.
In an interview with the Iranian Students' News Agency (SNN), Qashqavi claimed that plans to divide Iran were outlined in a book titled "Israel's Divine Mission Against Iran" and a U.S. national security document, implying these notions aim to weaken Iran by splitting it into smaller entities.
Qashqavi also criticized factions supporting the former royal regime, arguing that they align with separatist groups. He claimed these factions struggle to reconcile their nationalistic rhetoric with their support for secessionist agendas.
Regarding the security situation, Qashqavi stated that Iranian authorities are closely monitoring activities in Kurdistan. He noted that intelligence agencies have conducted several preemptive operations based on security intel.
He added that "preemptive operations" have become a part of Iran's strategy, emphasizing that any move perceived as a threat by Tehran will be met with action before it is executed.
The Iranian official stressed that Kurds are an integral part of Iran's national fabric, asserting that the people of Kurdistan have not engaged, in his words, with separatist projects and that internal cohesion has thwarted what he described as enemy plots.
