Iran has reiterated its warnings to the United States about potential errors concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Thursday, "The United States has often erred in its assessments due to intelligence failures... The clearest example of this is the war on Iran."
He further wrote on his X account, "Now there is an even greater miscalculation concerning the Strait of Hormuz."
"Exercise caution," he warned, adding, "Worse than fake news is fake intelligence... so be cautious."
In a related statement, Hossein Taeb, recently appointed by Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to lead the Basij forces affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, asserted earlier today that the Strait of Hormuz "is under the control of the Islamic Republic, and our country continues its path with full security," according to state television reports.
These comments were in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's claims that the United States has "complete control" over Hormuz and that the U.S. naval blockade forms a "steel wall" that Iran cannot break. Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, "The United States exerts full control over the Strait of Hormuz, and I believe we will maintain that control."
The U.S. president has repeatedly emphasized in recent times that his country controls this vital corridor for energy exports and goods shipping.
On the other hand, Tehran has insisted it will not allow maritime traffic in this waterway to return to its pre-war state as it was before late February.
Furthermore, Iran has repeatedly announced its intention to impose a "service charge" on shipping through the strait, in coordination with Oman, the other coastal state of this passage.
