Minister Staunchly Denies Alleged Statements by Former Official

Social Affairs Minister Hanin Sayed has firmly denied statements attributed to her by former Minister Yacoub Al-Sarraf regarding her stance on refugees, asserting that no such conversation took place between them.

Al-Sarraf, in an interview conducted several days ago, claimed a meeting with Sayed, during which he allegedly told her: "You are neglecting the refugees," and that she supposedly responded: "They brought the trouble upon themselves," according to his narrative.

Sayed countered in a post on her account on the "X" platform, stating: "I categorically deny the statements attributed to me by former Minister Yacoub Al-Sarraf, both in form and substance. No such conversation occurred between us, and I have never expressed any similar position before him or anyone else."

She emphasized that her stance has been clear since the onset of the crisis, underscoring that "protecting and assisting refugees is a duty of the state and should not be a subject for political posturing."

She added: "Attributing fabricated statements to me is unacceptable, and I call for a halt to the circulation of false, baseless information."
