The Fourth Criminal Court in Damascus sentenced former Syrian Mufti Ahmad Hassoun to life imprisonment today, Monday. This verdict comes after his conviction in a case involving the incitement of violence, justification of murder, and abuse of office, as part of the transitional justice proceedings in Syria.
The court convened its sixth session today, dedicated to reviewing and delivering the verdict in Hassoun's case. The session was presided over by Judge Fakhr al-Din Al-Arian and attended by several members of the National Commission for Transitional Justice, alongside representatives from international legal and humanitarian organizations.
