The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division released a statement explaining: 'As part of the daily efforts by the Internal Security Forces to combat theft operations across various regions in Lebanon, information was gathered by the Intelligence Division about an unidentified individual conducting thefts from homes and commercial establishments in Nabatiyeh, exploiting the owners' absence due to security conditions.'
It continued: 'Subsequently, specialized units within the division initiated field and investigative procedures to identify and arrest the individual responsible for these activities. Through inquiries and investigations, the division succeeded in identifying the suspect, known as A.R. (born in 1993, Lebanese).'
The statement added: 'On August 19, 2026, following precise monitoring and surveillance, one of the division's patrols arrested him in the Deir al-Zahrani area.'
It explained further: 'During questioning, the suspect confessed to numerous thefts from homes and commercial outlets in Nabatiyeh. He also admitted to stealing several crates of vegetables from a commercial institution on the day of his arrest, which he then concealed behind his residence in Deir al-Zahrani.'
Furthermore: 'As a result, a patrol from the division went to the specified location, where they managed to recover the stolen items.'
The statement concluded: 'Legal measures were taken against him, and he, along with the confiscated items, was handed over to the competent authorities, based on judicial guidance.'
