Syrian security forces have detained Sanal Khazir, a well-known journalist connected to the Assad regime, during a security operation in the Damascus countryside on Thursday.
According to Syria's 'Al-Ikhbariya' channel, the operation also led to the arrest of several individuals working alongside Khazir.
The channel indicated that Khazir “held positions as a war correspondent and head of military media at the now-defunct National Defense Forces during the regime period.”
It was also noted that she “was responsible for public relations at the Prime Minister's Office during the regime period, as part of her career linked to media and official institutions.”
The Syrian authorities have yet to announce the specific charges against her or whether she has been referred to the judiciary, nor have they disclosed the identities of those arrested with her.
