In a recent statement, Egypt's Ambassador to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, emphasized that Egyptian efforts to resolve Lebanon's crisis remain ongoing. He expressed the continued pursuit of practical solutions, albeit acknowledging that both regional and domestic circumstances currently do not favor the introduction of new ideas.
Speaking to LBCI, Moussa highlighted Egypt's deep concern over the developments in Lebanon and the broader region. He pointed out the prevailing uncertainty affecting all parties involved and noted that the indicators point to a highly tense situation.
Moussa mentioned Egypt's forthcoming active participation in the preparatory conference in Paris this month, where discussions will likely include promises of support for the Lebanese army. He believes this event will address the role of 'UNIFIL' and provide an opportunity for international cooperation with the United States to seek viable solutions.
He stressed that Lebanon's leadership prioritizes the nation's interests but must recognize this is a pivotal moment in Lebanon's history. Moussa urged for reforms to position the country to advocate for its rights and fulfill its obligations, stating, 'Lebanon seeks rightful benefits and has duties to uphold.'
