The Indonesian Volcanology Center stated today, Tuesday, that "Mount Sinabung volcano has emitted a cloud of hot ash rising five kilometers, marking its first significant eruption since August of last year."

The Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center clarified that no casualties have been reported, but an official previously urged residents to remain at least three kilometers away from the crater.
