Facebook announced changes to its business tools, stating that it will expand the "Shops" feature to include the WhatsApp messaging app in several countries and Facebook Marketplace in the United States. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's CEO, mentioned that the company will also offer ads through the Shops feature that are tailored to each user's shopping behavior. Facebook launched the Shops feature last year as a way to help people discover and purchase products on Facebook and Instagram in its effort to support e-commerce. The company stated that over 300 million people visit Shops monthly, with about 1.2 million active shops each month. Zuckerberg noted in the latest earnings announcement that e-commerce is one of three key areas the company is focusing on, alongside work on augmented and virtual reality and helping content creators monetize on Facebook platforms.
