Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of the American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, stated on Twitter that the company intends to release a new improved version of its self-driving technology for cars within the next two to three weeks. Musk mentioned that the company is modifying its self-driving application to eliminate the phantom braking issue, and the improved version could be launched during the upcoming weeks. He added that it will be possible to subscribe to the new self-driving system application within a month.
This news comes after Tesla informed the California Department of Motor Vehicles that it may not reach full self-driving technology by the end of this year.
In a related incident, Tesla is facing investigations from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States due to a collision involving one of its vehicles that crashed into a tree after veering off the road, resulting in the deaths of two people. Police believe the vehicle was operating in self-driving mode at the time of the collision. The car was equipped with Tesla's advanced driver assistance system known as "Autopilot," which requires both cruise control and automatic steering functions to operate correctly on the roads.
