The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced today that Enrique Mora, the European Union's envoy coordinating discussions to revive the Iranian nuclear agreement, will visit Tehran on Thursday. This comes as no date has yet been set to resume the stalled negotiations.
Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson, Saeed Khatibzadeh, stated to Iranian media, "Mora's visit will take place on Thursday. This comes after consultations between the two sides on issues of mutual interest, including relations between Iran and the EU, Afghanistan, and the nuclear agreement."
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated on Saturday that ways to verify the lifting of U.S. sanctions represent one of the main concerns for Iran in any discussions aimed at salvaging the 2015 nuclear agreement, according to Reuters. The talks aim to bring Washington and Tehran back into compliance with the agreement designed to curb Iran's uranium enrichment program. These discussions were postponed in June following the election of Ebrahim Raisi as president of Iran.
