French President Emmanuel Macron participated in a charity soccer match yesterday, Thursday, to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Varieté Club de France celebrity team against the Hospital de Poissy club. The proceeds from this event will be donated to the Paris Hospitals - Hospitals of France foundation, according to "Euronews." Emmanuel Macron donned the number 3 jersey and played as a midfielder for the Varieté Club de France. The team included Nicolas Duchêne, Christian Karembeu, Arsène Wenger, Marcel Desailly, Laurent Blanc, Alain Giresse, Jean-Michel Larqué, and Sonny Anderson, in addition to former Lyon coach Rudy Garcia and Karl Olive, the mayor of Poissy, the only other player outside the main roster. The match concluded a day dedicated by the president to sports, during which Emmanuel Macron announced in Saint-Denis a "major push" to place "sports at the heart of the nation's concerns" ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, as well as the establishment of 5,000 local sports facilities at a cost of 200 million euros.
