"Crucial Step" - American Congratulations to Iraq After Arrest of Kerada Bombing Perpetrator

The United States congratulated the Iraqi government and security forces on Tuesday for the arrest of the suspect involved in the Lait Complex bombings in the Kerada area that took place five years ago. A statement from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, posted on its Facebook account, said: "We stand in reverence to commemorate the victims of this heinous terrorist act." It continued that "the arrest is merely a crucial step forward in bringing criminals to justice, taken by Iraq in its ongoing fight to ensure the relentless defeat of ISIS." Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi announced on Monday the arrest of Ghazwan Al-Zubaie, who was responsible for the bombings and other terrorist attacks in various parts of the country years ago. The Kerada bombings in July 2016 resulted in the deaths of nearly 300 Iraqis and injured 250 others, in addition to damaging several nearby commercial buildings.
