Barça Appoints Sergi Barjuan as Interim Coach Following Koeman's Exit

On Thursday, Spanish club Barcelona decided to appoint Sergi Barjuan as the interim coach of the team, replacing Ronald Koeman who was dismissed from his position. The Catalan club stated in a press release on their website that the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, will introduce Barjuan to the players at the training facilities on Thursday. Prior to his appointment, Barjuan served as the coach of the club's B team (the second team).

Barcelona announced the dismissal of Koeman on Wednesday evening after a 1-0 loss against Rayo Vallecano. The team currently sits in ninth place in the league, with 15 points from 10 matches, trailing 6 points behind rivals Real Madrid, who defeated Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou on Sunday. Earlier, the Spanish newspaper "Marca" reported that Barcelona's president selected Xavi Hernandez to succeed Ronald Koeman as the team's coach.
