Israeli Channel "12" reported that Syria launched an anti-aircraft missile on Tuesday night through Israeli airspace, which exploded over a beach in Haifa. According to Channel "12," "one of the missiles fired by the Syrian army missed the aircraft, entered Israel at a high altitude, and exploded over the sea off the Haifa coast, with debris falling into the water and causing no damage." It noted that "the Israeli army's air defense system tracked the missile but decided not to intercept it as it did not pose a threat to civilians." The channel indicated that "the missile was of the SA-5 type and has a self-destruct system at high altitudes," while a spokesperson for the Israeli army declined to comment.
Earlier on Wednesday, Syrian state media reported that air defenses confronted an Israeli attack over the city of Homs. The media stated via its correspondent in Homs, "An Israeli aerial aggression targets some points in the central region, and our air defense systems are responding." Subsequently, official media reported "the killing of civilians and injuries in an Israeli attack on the central region."
