Egyptian security forces have uncovered the mystery behind the discovery of a decapitated body of an elderly woman found in a bag and naked, discarded in a water drain in the Rahmaniya district of Beheira Governorate. It has been revealed that her son killed her, used a sickle to sever her head, stripped her of her clothes, placed her in a bag, and threw the bag into a water drain in an attempt to hide the evidence and prevent anyone from discovering it. He also stole a gold earring she was wearing, acting out of revenge over a dispute regarding inheritance, which consisted of an agricultural plot and a house.
The security forces succeeded in apprehending the suspect, and he confessed to committing the crime when confronted. He also pointed out the murder weapon (the sickle) and the stolen gold earring. The case has been referred to the public prosecutor, which has begun an investigation.
Residents of the Tawila village in the Rahmaniya district discovered the unidentified body of the elderly woman, estimated to be in her ninth decade, inside a bag in the water drain. She had been reported missing from her home for about a month in a nearby village in Damanhour. According to the newspaper Akhbar Al-Youm, initial investigations by the detectives revealed that the deceased had a missing persons report filed with the number 10533 in Damanhour about a month ago, as she left home and did not return until her body was discovered on the morning of Tuesday, October 19, 2021. The body was transferred to the morgue of the central hospital in Rahmaniya, under the jurisdiction of the public prosecutor, which ordered a forensic doctor to perform an autopsy and determine the cause of death and the instrument used.
Initial investigations indicated that the deceased lived with one of her sons and his wife after her husband had died and her daughters had married, while another son had also married in a village in Damanhour. She owned a piece of agricultural land and received a monthly pension.
