The President of the Union of Oil Importing Companies, Maroun Shammas, clarified that "the import process is subject to prior approval from the Central Bank of Lebanon, and oil importing companies submit their invoices to the Ministry of Energy; our main concern is to secure the market's needs." He added, "The Ministry of Energy should take measures and establish a mechanism to issue a price schedule in the morning, and the price of gasoline in dollars is determined by the General Directorate of Oil at the Ministry of Energy and Water. Can the Central Bank of Lebanon continue to support due to the discrepancy between the Sayrafa platform price and the black market?" He continued, "Sayrafa should only be for essential matters like medications, and we have no interest in the return of long queues."
