The President of the Food Importers Syndicate, Hani Bahsali, clarified that "the situation has not improved for the past two months and has worsened with the Ukrainian war," noting that "the Central Bank of Lebanon is facing significant difficulties in financing wheat, but this does not mean we are facing a danger of famine." Bahsali revealed, in a statement to "Voice of Lebanon," that "imports have temporarily decreased, but Lebanon is a small country and can meet its needs. The major challenge lies in the ability of citizens to purchase food items in the face of rising living costs." He urged new lawmakers to unite to save Lebanon and prioritize the economic file.
