Following the decision of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Governor of the Saudi Central Bank, Ahmed bin Abdul Karim Al-Khulaifi, has been relieved from his position and appointed as an advisor in the Royal Court at the rank of Minister. Fahd bin Abdullah bin Abdul Latif Al-Mubarak has been appointed as the new Governor of the Saudi Central Bank.
According to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), King Salman issued several royal decrees, the most notable of which included merging the Ministry of Housing with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, with its name changed to "Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing." A royal decree was also issued appointing Majed bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Hoqail as the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, heading the new ministry, while Fahd bin Abdullah bin Abdul Latif Al-Mubarak has been relieved from his position as Minister of State and member of the Council of Ministers.
