Barcelona Coach Responds to News of Messi's Return

Xavi Hernandez, the coach of Barcelona, responded to inquiries regarding the possibility of Argentine star Lionel Messi, currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain, returning to Camp Nou. Xavi stated in remarks reported by the Spanish newspaper "Sport": "There is no point in talking about Messi's return to Barcelona at this time." He added, "Messi is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain, so his return is impossible right now, and we'll see in the future." He concluded: "President Joan Laporta has already said he hopes Messi's departure does not mark the end of his story with Barcelona." The 35-year-old's contract with the Parisian team ends in the summer of 2023, but it includes a clause regarding the possibility of extending it for one additional season.
