Based on the request of the Minister of Public Works and Transport and to supply the airport from the Litani power plants, and in light of the fear of a complete power outage due to the impending shutdown of thermal plants, an agreement was reached between the National Authority for the Litani River and Electricité du Liban to increase the production of hydroelectric plants during the shutdown of thermal plants, from 50 megawatts to approximately 90 megawatts, to supply vital facilities, particularly the airport, throughout the duration of the thermal plant shutdown. It is noted that the authority has expressed its readiness to increase hydroelectric plant production to its maximum capacity to ensure a regular and sustainable power supply for Rafik Hariri Airport.
