The Iraqi Council of Ministers has approved the extension of the agreement to sell fuel to Lebanon. A statement from the media office of Prime Minister Najib Mikati said: "The Iraqi government, headed by Mr. Mustafa al-Kadhimi, has approved during its meeting today the request submitted by Prime Minister Najib Mikati to extend the supply of fuel to Lebanon for the Lebanese Electricity Company for a year under the same conditions that have been in place thus far. Mikati thanked the Iraqi government and al-Kadhimi personally for their interest in Lebanon and support in overcoming the difficult circumstances it is facing."
Mikati affirmed that the relations between Lebanon and Iraq will remain strong as they have historically been, and cooperation between the two countries will continue in the spirit of brotherhood. Mikati also wished the brotherly Iraq to overcome the political difficulties it is experiencing and for the situation in this brotherly country to return to normal as soon as possible.
